Rapidly Develop Powerful Cold Reading For Awesome Results
Mar 10th, 2010 by Miles Sunkest

If you would like to become a powerful magician, it is important to become skilled in the art of cold reading. Cold reading means making some educated guesses about a person based on many factors that are observable at a first glance. Hairstyle, clothing style, and many other outwardly noticeable things can give off clues to a person’s personality.

First of all, you need to size up your viewers. This means exactly resolve how many folks there are. A bunch, or a few? The more individuals there are, the more precise you can be with your “predictions,” and likely have a few folks who you will think you are talking about them. This requires you have some respectable body language interpretation skills, so you can follow up with the right person. It’s always better to start unclear, and then get more specific to narrow down your choice of people to focus on.

With smaller group of individuals, you’ll have the Forer effect going for you. This consequence describes how individuals will give much more accuracy to something that they think is about them particularly, when really it is a general statement that could be applied to almost anybody. If you start of with some general comments based on their clothing, and then portray some basic truths that are generally precise for most people, this can be a dominant combination.

For example, if their shirt is fresh and pressed, but un tucked, you can say something like, “You have the unique characteristic of balancing external appearances and personal coziness.” This is correct for most people, but they will be under the illusion it is only about them.

Once you make a couple of simple remarks about their clothing, you can start to talk about their history. Again, vague generalizations will often be established as private unique truths. For example, you can say something like, “I can tell that in your past you’ve had some difficulties, and you’ve achieved some great accomplishments. Some accepted by others, but some that only you know about.” Likewise, this is true for most people, but because you are speaking directly to them, they will think it is only about them.

Once you’ve persuaded them that you know about who they are, and what they’ve gone through, you are ready to start making predictions about the future. Since you are two out of two, they’ll be much more enthusiastic to pay attention to your predictions about their future. As when dealing with their past, when predicting their future it’s best to be hazy: “You have a bright future, but you must be careful because you will come up against some obstacles that may cause you to lose enthusiasm. But I see your future as one of triumph and prosperity.”

So long as you don’t misuse this, it can be a brilliant party trick. You’ll find that you will promptly become the most accepted person at the party by accurately reading people’s past, and giving them a good future to look forward to. And when you mix this with a few simple card tricks and other illusions, you’ll immediately become the most sought after party guest in town. Have fun.

The Remarkable Magical Card Trick
Mar 10th, 2010 by Miles Sunkest

This is a great magic trick that uses a deck of cards, and is always a hit with the kids. Even adults will have no clue how you do this amazing trick. The cool thing is that it requires no sleight of hand or any hidden cards or anything like that. This is a self working trick, meaning that it will always work, every time. And when they figure out how it’s done it will be amazing, but only if you show them.

Here’s how the deception appears to your shocked observers. You have all the cards of the equivalent suit taken out of the deck. So you’ve got all the hearts, or clubs, or whatever. Have them arranged in order, beginning from the ace, and ending with the king. If you are doing this with children, you can even have them set the deck up for them.

As soon as you’ve got it set up, then you go through the deck once, showing them all that they are undeniably in order, starting from the ace, and ending at the king. If you like you can give them the short stack and have them verify for themselves to make sure there is nothing strange going on.

Then elucidate the deception to them. You have the stack face down. If they say “deal,” then you take one card off the top, and place it face down on the table, in a new stack. If they say “double deal” then you take two cards off the top, reverse the order and then place them face down in the same stack. Do this until you’ve gone through all the cards. Tell them that they have to memorize the new order that the cards are in. While they are busily trying to re estimate the order, you pick up the new stack, and begin to turn each card over one by one. They will be startled to see that the cards are still in the same order, starting from the ace, up to the king.

Most frequently, they will ask you to do it again, and again. And the cool part is, since this is a self working trick, they can do it themselves and it will still work. The reason it works should be understandable once you do this a few times. If you take only one card off the top, and place it in the new stack, (deal), or take two cards, and reverse the order, placing them in the new stack (double deal) they still end up in the same order, no matter if you deal or double deal them. To see how this works, do the trick with all the cards facing up, and you’ll see how it works out.

This is amazing for kids of all ages, and several of them will never deduce how it works even after they do the trick themselves. Of course, you’ll intermittently run into a young academic or natural mathematician who’ll see right through this trick and comprehend how it’s down. Nonetheless, this trick is superb for everlasting amounts of entertainment, even with grownups. Have fun with this straightforward trick.

This Simple To Learn Yet Shockingly Authoritative Magic Trick Will Have Them Questioning Reality Itself
Feb 18th, 2010 by Miles Sunkest

This classic magic trick is fairly easy to learn, yet will powerfully entertain any audience. This is an up close type of trick, so you can perform it for your friends, at a bar or at a party. It requires a bit of set up, but since you will be using pretty straightforward and everyday objects, this shouldn’t present a problem.

This is how your soon to be amazed friends will see it. You grab a seemingly partially crushed and empty soda can You show the audience that it’s empty but turning it upside down, and showing them open top. Then you hold it with your magical hands, and with your magical powers, you somehow use powers that break the laws of physics to bring this seemingly dead can of soda back to life.

You shake the can, and those already mesmerized by your gifts will hear the soda shaking inside the can. The can will mysteriously restore itself to its original shape. When you show them the top, they will see that it has not been opened. You simply open the top like any normal can of soda, and when they hear the familiar “pop,” they will gasp in amazement. You are now an established mentalist in the minds of your friends.

Here’s how to do the trick. First you get a regular can of soda. The first step is to get a piece of black paper, and cover up the lid, so that it will appear to be open when you show it to the crowd. Then you take a pen or something like a Phillips head screwdriver, and punch a hole about midway down the can. Pour out about half of the soda through the hole. Then crush the can slightly, and leave it off to the side, for you to “find” later.

When when you grab this seemingly empty can, you quickly show them the top, which they will be convinced has been opened. Then while covering the hole with your thumb, shake the can. The crowd will hear the sloshing, and see the can mysteriously come back to life. When you shake the can, the carbonation will “fizz” and expand the gas inside the can, which will reshape the can back to its original shape. Just be sure to flick aside the black piece of paper that was covering the top of the can, and then open it like normal. Be sure to cover the hole while you are pouring the drink out.

The angle is to give them an intriguing story while your setting this trick up, up to when you start to shake the can. When you do this, they’ll be following your words, and won’t even pay attention to the can until it’s too late. Everyone who see this trick is spellbound, as they try to figure out how you managed to break the laws of physics.

The Shocking Magician Who Made Me Question Veracity Itself
Jan 22nd, 2010 by Miles Sunkest

Last week I was shuffling down the street, trying my best to beat a hangover that was holding on for dear life. It was two in the afternoon, yet the cobwebs in my mind were refusing their grip on my sanity. Which is just as well, because what happened next surely destroyed plenty of my neural connections. I passed by this bookstore, and noticed this guy inside beckoning me to come in. Naturally, I complied.

This guy was doing some of the most incredible magic I’ve ever seen. When I walked in he was doing these wicked card tricks. He’d ask somebody to pick a card, and then have them show their friends, like normal. Only he’d have them put the card back in the deck, but then the card would show up in their sock or their wallet or something.

Then he switched into the psychic part of his routine, and this is where I could hear my brain sizzling. He would stare at somebody, read their mind, and then stare at somebody else, and download the first persons information into the second person. Then the second person, who didn’t know the first person, would start telling everybody secrets about the first person that even their best friends didn’t know.

After that, he settled back down into doing regular illusion type magic. Sleight of hand tricks, making stuff vanish, and they reappear in other places. One trick he did that I’m still trying to figure out is that he made everybody’s drink vanish. He would tell somebody to pick up their drink, and as soon as they put the glass other their mouths, the contents would be gone. He did this at least three different times with three different people.

I could only take so much of this before I had to go back outside. It was by far the most strangest magical experience I’ve ever come across in my short life. But just as I was about to walk down the street, I heard a voice behind me.

You must learn magic tricks! You must delve into the secret world of psychic tricks to uncover the mysteries of the unknown! They are depending on you! I wasn’t sure who “they” were, but that was enough to spook me for good. I ran out of there, and never came back.
